July 2020 Update: Meet Howl!

July 14, 2020

It’s less than a month to go until Death Sets Sail arrives! This video talks a bit about pre-ordering, and about signing up to my newsletter – but it’s mostly about our new puppy Howl! Watch the video for more information … and I’ll be back very soon with more exciting updates …

Exciting news, Detectives: the numbers are in, and Death Sets Sail is floating at the very top of the charts! It’s the NUMBER ONE paperback in the UK, it’s NUMBER FOUR overall in the UK children’s and YA chart (in the week that we got a new Stephenie Meyer and a new Jeff Kinney) and it’s NUMBER TWELVE of all books sold in the UK. That’s ALL books, not just kids!
Death Sets Sail is out now – and my publisher Puffin thought you might want to celebrate that fact! They’ve put together a (socially distanced) party pack to help you and your friends wave goodbye to the series in style.
‘the story unfolds neatly and is satisfyingly twisty. It has a strong sense of place … and two budding romances, and explores the powerful bonds of friendship as girls grow up.’
At the end of a series, you want a big finish. Something to make the series go out with a bang. Well, Robin Stevens did just that with Death Sets Sail. Packed with suspense throughout, and unimaginable twists and turns, Death Sets Sail was without a doubt the best book in the Murder Most Unladylike series.
I have another event coming up next week – a live Q&A and reading in partnership with the Arvon Foundation’s Arvon at Home programme on Tuesday 11th August at 4pm. You can book tickets NOW – they’re £3 per screen – and I hope as many of you as possible will log on!
Because it’s publication day, I’m sharing a video of me reading from the first chapter of Death Sets Sail. But beware … the first chapter contains the first SPOILER! So watch … if you dare!

  1. Hello Robin,
I loved watching this month’s video update! Howl is indeed very cute! I’m so excited for Death Sets Sail and the new announcement as well. I also love your book case full of lots of books- I even tried to spot books I had read! (Boy in the Tower stands out to me from the shelf)

Howl is adorable! I can’t wait to see more of him! I am so excited for ‘Death Sets Sail’! On the same day, ‘A Theif Among the Trees’ by Sabaa Tahir comes out which is the prequel graphic novel to her, ‘An Ember in the Ashes’ series. I am going to have a lot of fun reading on August 6th and I cannot wait!

  10. Aah Robin, Howl is soo cute!! I hope he brings you lts of happiness! You will be a great and very caring dog-owner. I think that dogs do require a lot of attention so your job is perfect for having a dog. He looks adorable and want to give him a big hug, even tho I definitely prefer cats as I think my family finds them easier to manage and I think they just prefer me!! Anyway, I cant wait for Death Sets Sail to come out. I am about to read the extract and I cant wait.

      1. If you have signed up to the newsletter, you will have received an email called:
“An exclusive extract from death sets sail”
Then you have to scroll down and it will say:
        Hope this helped!
