Book 8’s cover – it’s time to guess the colour!

21/01/2019

You’ve been asking me to tell you what colour Book 8’s cover is going to be for ages – and I wish I was able to! It’s been so hard for me to keep the secret, but the wait is almost over! I’ll be revealing the colour of Book 8’s cover on this site and on my social media accounts at 12pm GMT on Friday the 25th January.

Today, I’m going to give you a big clue as to what that colour will be. I know you’ve been guessing for a long time – and some of those guesses have been *very* close. But I can now officially tell you that Book 8’s colour will be ONE of the SIX shades in the wheel below.

Lemon? Coral? Green? Pink? Maroon? Navy? WHICH COULD IT BE?

So, which do you think it’ll be? Get your guesses in now, because all will be revealed on Friday at noon …

I really want it to be coral, and I think it’s coral because it’s a pretty colour you have not done yet. I am looking at a picture of the whole set, and seeing which book colour looks nice with it (Which won’t help because i’m very bad at visualizing!) I don’t think it’s lemon because people will get confused between book 8 and Jolly Foul Play, I don’t think navy with black silhouettes would look good (both dark colours- well it could if done right), Case of the Missing Treasure is already maroon, Pink just wouldn’t be a very fitting colour, green would look a bit weird, but it is possible… I think it’s gonna be coral. (hope I’m right!) Also, do you already have the cover design? Like, exactly what it’s going to look like, or are you still choosing? When will the full cover reveal be?!

Great detective work, Iman! You’ll have to see if you’re right on Friday …

We know the title and the final cover is being illustrated at the moment by my amazing illustrator Nina Tara. I’m hoping we’ll have the finished cover in March, but I’m not sure yet!

I love every single one of those!
Baby blue – Book number 1
    Light green – 2
    Orange – 3
    Yellow – 4
    Red – 5
    Turquoise – 6
Purple – Cream buns and crime
Burgandy – The case of the missing treasure
    Light violet/ purlple – 7

So I think that Book number 8 will be Pink or coral!

    Hello Robin,
Previously in November I guessed Book 8 would be dark blue, and the closest to that is ‘Nefarious Navy’ so that is my guess. I really love the ‘wheel of colours’ -especially how you named all the colours! I can’t wait till Friday!

Can you also tell us what the character’s name will be in book 8? You said there would be a prize draw to name a character…

Ah, yes! I’m not sure if I can say the winner’s name, but I know who it is and she’s in the book!

Out of the 6 colours, I like Nefarious Navy the best but I don’t think it will be it since the last book was blue/purplish colour and the 1st book was also a shade of blue. But I may be wrong.

Also are you going to tell us the number of words in the title? If so, when?
Please do it soon, I can’t wait!

I think I’ll do that in the run-up to the title announcement. We’ll do that once the cover is finished, probably in March – but we’ll definitely do something like this for the title too!

    Hi Robin,
I’m guessing coral because I think that it will look really nice along with the other books.

I’m thinking coral, because I remember that being mentioned as a possibility before (using my Detective skills!)

I also think it will either be pink or coral as those colours haven’t been used yet. Can’t wait to see what colour will be added to the series!

    Hi Robin,

It’s exceptionally challenging to predict the colour- I’m sure they’d all look fabulous😀. Several of the previous books are similar shades to the hues listed on the wheel, so by deduction my guess is coral or pink. Eagerly-anticipating the publication of the new novel!
