FCBG CBA 2017 – a wonderful afternoon!

FCBG CBA shortlisted books

On Saturday I went to the FCBG Children’s Book Award 2017. I was shortlisted in the Older Readers category for Mistletoe and Murder, along with Sarah Crossan for One and Ali Sparkes for Car-Jacked.

I didn’t win – Sarah won our category, and Michael Morpurgo and Michael Foreman won the overall award for An Eagle in the Snow – but I want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who voted. Getting into the TOP TEN books of the ENTIRE YEAR is an incredible achievement, and it’s all down to you guys. You’re the best!

I also want to say how pleased I am with the results. One is a beautiful, beautiful book and Michael Mopurgo and Michael Foreman are the most incredible team. They’ve produced something very special, and An Eagle in the Snow is a deserved 2017 winner!

I had a lovely time at the lunch, meeting all of the brilliant representatives from book groups across the country. I got to sit on a table with the lovely Sandringham Library lot (we were very well behaved), and I even got a beautiful portfolio full of nice comments about my book! I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day.

So thank you again, and hooray for Mistletoe and Murder, FCBG CBA 2017 shortlisted book!
