I’ve just got home from an INCREDIBLE week of A Spoonful of Murder events!
Last Saturday I visited my friends at Blackwell’s Oxford Westgate and met a lot of really enthusiastic fans – and even two detectives who dressed up as Daisy and Hazel!
Then, on Monday, I began my tour of schools by visiting two north London schools: Whittingham Primary and Coleridge Primary. Whittingham won a visit from me in the Books are my Bag competition last year, so I was especially pleased to see them! Both schools were supplied by Pickled Pepper Books, who have been brilliant supporters of the Murder Most Unladylike books for years – I’m proud that they’re still fans!
On Tuesday I went to Oxfordshire to visit Manor Prep School and Headington Prep School. In both schools I met so many excited and enthusiastic fans – it’s amazing to see how much their pupils love my books! Big thanks to Mostly Books and Blackwell’s for supplying copies for everyone to buy.
On Wednesday I visited Liverpool for the very first time. I absolutely loved it – it’s such a beautiful city! I went to Birkenhead School and West Kirby Grammar with Linghams Books and had an amazing day. Birkenhead even made me a delicious tea for lunch!
On Thursday morning I visited Malvern school, where I spoke to Years 3-6. It’s so nice to visit schools where pupils are really encouraged to love books! Thanks to Peters Books and Knowsley SLS for helping out.
In the afternoon I stopped by Liverpool Waterstones and signed PILES of my books – Liverpool fans, there are signed copies there for you now!
On Friday I visited Newcastle, where I got to meet the famous Ruby at Sacred Heart Primary! She’s adorable – you can tell a school is great if it has a lovely dog!
In the afternoon I visited RGS, who have been trying to get me in for AGES – and it was worth the wait! The school is full of Detective Societies, and I couldn’t be prouder to inspire them all. Huge thanks to Blackwell’s and Waterstones for being brilliant booksellers.
And finally, on Saturday I visited the Durham Waterstones’ Children’s Book Group to talk about my mystery stories. Then I did a public signing – and I still can’t believe the queue I had. I was signing for two and a half hours, which is a new record. Huge thanks to Fiona and the rest of the Waterstones team, and to everyone who came and queued so cheerfully!
So that’s it for my Spoonful tour … for now. The excitement’s not over yet, though, because I’ll be on the road again in April to visit Waterstones Milton Keynes (11th), Waterstones Portsmouth (12th) and Cambridge Lit Fest (14th).
