Happy Independent Bookshop Week, Detectives!
This is the week that was made for bookworms, the one where it is basically your DUTY to support your local independent bookstore by visiting them and buying loads of excellent books.
This year I was lucky enough to start off my IBW in style – lovely North London children’s bookstore Pickled Pepper invited me along for the afternoon to SERVE BEHIND THE TILL like a proper bookseller!

As you may know, I started my career as a bookseller, in Blackwell’s Bookshop in Oxford, and I still really miss it sometimes. I get very enthusiastic about books, and I LOVE helping someone find the right book for them.
So Monday afternoon was an amazing experience. Thank you to everyone who came along (especially the Detective Society who are writing Dread at Dinner Time, the alternative Book 6), and thank you to Urmi and Holly for allowing me to take over the till for a whole afternoon! I even got to give out some super special early proof copies of The Guggenheim Mystery …

So happy Independent Bookshop Week to you all – and remember, the most important thing is to just keep reading!
