Death Sets Sail has been given its first review! Fiona Noble in the Bookseller (the magazine for publishers in the UK) made it her book of the month for August, and calls it

A triumphant finale to a much-loved series.

Read the whole review below, as well as an interview with me. I’m so proud that Death Sets Sail‘s first review was so good – and more excited than ever about everyone reading it on the 6th of August!

I’m very pleased to say that my Behind the Book video, featuring a Q&A, a workspace tour and a reading from the last two chapters of Death Sets Sail, is available to watch NOW on the Puffin YouTube channel. There’s a link below – I hope you enjoy it!
I’ve got a new video on the way! Behind the Book with Robin Stevens will premiere on the Puffin YouTube Channel on Friday 18th September at 6pm BST.
For the rest of September, your prompt will be resolutions. This was suggested by Detective Society member Neve – and it seems like a great choice, since this is the beginning of the school year, a time full of new challenges and big decisions.
I’ve got good news for Scottish fans – I may not be able to come visit you in person this autumn, but I’ll be able to be with you virtually! I’m teaming up with the Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour and Book Week Scotland for a week of absolutely FREE events for Scottish schools.
You have until the 6th of September to send all of your questions about the MMU series, The Ministry of Unladylike Activity, Howl the puppy or anything else you might want to know to a special email address that my publisher Puffin has set up: askrobinstevens@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. I’m going to be answering my very favourites on a new ‘Behind the Book’ video, premiering on the 18th of September on the Puffin YouTube channel.

  1. Hi robin and the detective society
I was just wondering if this is on a certain newspaper and if so which one I’d love to read the interview and review

    1. Wow! Congrats! I can’t wait to read the book! So sad it’s the last one though?
      Detective Society Forever! #MMU

  2. Wow! Congratulations. I loved reading that and am definately losing it about whether someone will die or not ???

      1. OOOOOOOO ROMANCE. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT FOR AGES!!!
So sad that someone will die. Everyone thinks it’s daisy. But do you remember that kitty beanie and Lavinia kind of joined the detective society???? ????????.
It could be hazel because we all think it’s daisy but it might be someone you least expect.
        YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!! So scared.
I’m gonna have to order it.

        1. I also think it will be Daisy because the books are written from the point of Hazel and if she dies then Daisy would have to write the rest of the case.

          1. Yeah me too Unless the book ? is written in daisies view then hazel might die but I don’t want any of them to die

          1. In one picture Robin posted it said ‘Hazel: vice president’ but vice is crossed out!! so I think it’s Daisy who dies! Very intriguing.

        2. I really love your books and I can’t wait ? for the next one I really don’t want anyone to die though. Is the book going to be in hazel’s perspective like usual?

      1. Wow! Congrats! I can’t wait for the 6th of August! I have pre-ordered the book ages ago and am impatiently waiting to know if someone dies or not!

  3. Congratulations, Robin! Can’t wait to read it in August. I am going insane because I pre-ordered it on the 14th of February this year. That feels like a lifetime ago right now!

    1. #WWDS WELLS AND WONG DETECTIVE SOCIETY. # MMU9 MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE. #DSS DEATH SET’S SAIL. #SSIE SO SAD IT’S ENDING. #IWYLWYNB I WISH YOU LUCK WITH YOUR NEXT BOOK. #STSWD SCARED TO WHO DIES. #GPOT GONNA PRE ORDER TODAY. #LFTMMU9 LOOKING FORWARD TO MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE 9.# TIWMMMU THOUGH I WILL MISS MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE. #IRLFTWYWN I’M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO WHATEVER YOU RIGHT NEXT. #FI FROM IMOGEN?????

  4. That so great robin, cant wait to get the magazine and Death Sets Sail in August I’m getting it on audible because i am dyslexic. Thx so much for writing these books

  5. I totally agree. I am already going a bit mad because I have been in lock down for 9 weeks and having to wait into August for the last book is driving me even more insane.?????

  6. Congratulations Robin – if I can get through two months of lockdown, the 6th of August will come sooner then we think!

  7. Congratulations Robin! I’m so excited for the 6th of August. I just wish lock down would hurry itself up so we can get there faster.

  8. Congrats!! I love your books so much!! I really hope its Alexander and Hazel!! They would be so cute together! I CANT WAIT TO READ IT! I will hopefully get it preordered as a birthday present and i cant wait till August sixth!

  9. I am terrified because only one of them will get out of it alive! Everyone thinks that it is daisy and I feel like it might be but I am so scared! I now understand why it is the last one as I don’t see how the series can continue with only one of the main girls. I have been following these books for so long and got very sad when I found out that it was coming to a close.

  10. I don’t believe that one will die. I think what they mean by ‘alive’ means that only one member of the detective societywill make it home without romance.

      1. Imogen i was thinking that. i think maybe Daisy might stay in Cairo and give up the society to become a spy…? (i was at Robin’s oxford signing for DITS and she said Daisy would be a spy in WWII). maybe i just refuse to accept her death!

        1. hmmmm i dont think so, cuz daisy loves hazel (as a friend… right?) and yeah! but i do think she might fake her death because shes smart like that 🙂

  11. i literally CANNOT wait till death sets sail is published. E very day i cross off the days on my calendar and say to myself to be patient but i can’t! because i’m so excited !!!!!!!!!!!
